May 19, 1927 - December 11, 2017
Milton Williams, 90, of New Hope, passed away on Monday, December 11th.
He was preceded in death by father, Bert Williams, mother, Margaret Williams, and brothers, Bert (Trudy), Jack (Louise), and Bobby (Stephanie) Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Gloria Williams, sister, Sylvia (Bob) Volk, sons Fred Williams (Regina), Doug Williams (Josie), Jeff Williams, and Eric Williams (Rejina), daughter, Pamela Mann (Dewey), grandchildren, Dorri Williams, Shane Monroe, Irma Laborde, Annie Walker, Michael Williams, Tommy Mann, Brian Mann, Jenny Kirklin, Jana Bridges, Shawn Maynes, Willie Maynes, and Chad Cuzzort, and several great grandchildren.
Milton was born in Patton, Pennsylvania to Bert and Margaret Williams. He graduated from Patton High School and in 1949 married Gloria Luzier. They raised five children, Fred, Doug, Jeff, Pam, and Eric.
After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the was a US Navy and was trained as an airplane mechanic. He also sang in the Naval Chorus under the direction of Robert Shaw. He is a World War II veteran.
As a manager for the Van Heusen company, he and his family moved to Alabama. He worked with Van Heusen and other companies in Hartford, Geneva, Clio, and Fort Payne, Alabama and Monteagle, Tennessee. Eventually, he started is own manufacturing company, New Hope Manufacturing, in New Hope, Alabama.
His greatest joy was sharing his love of singing with his family and others. He particularly enjoyed directing youth choirs in the various towns he lived.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home followed by services at 5:00 PM with Reverend Michael Carpenter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hope Methodist Building Fund, PO Box 420, New Hope, AL 35760 or to Hospice of the Valley Foundation, 240 Johnston Street, Southeast, Decatur, AL 35601.
