Murril "Ears" Martin, 78, of Meridianville, passed away Saturday after a long battle with cancer.
He was a member of Farley Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years. He was a retired fireman and a veteran. He served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Greater Huntsville Umpire Association for many years and was involved in officiating ball games as long as he was able. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and son.
He was preceded in death by parents, Buck and Kate Martin, three brothers, J.B., Donnie and Billy Martin and two sisters, Louise Butler and Helen Cooper.
He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs., Dorothy Maples Martin, daughters, Melissa (Scott) Breeden and Teresa (Rick) Brocato, five grandchildren, Chris (Kattie) Brocato, Emily (Chris) Ferris, Conor (Brooklyn) Breeden, and Tiffany and Caroline Breeden, one great grandson, Sam Brocato, one brother, Murry (Barbara) Martin and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be Monday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday at 1:00 pm with Bro. Mark Little officiating.
Interment will be at Byrd Cemetery in Owens Cross Roads, AL.
